Seems like a few months back when Staples had these on sale someone mentioned that some of the IO Magic lightscribe drives were made by Liteon and others are a Benq DW1655. I searched but I can't find the thread. Has anybody picked one up recently? What model Liteon are they using?

Though someone else encouraged it, but there's no need to double post, as it's against the rules. But since you've asked, it could be a SHW-16H5S as well, but no sign of the SHW-160H6S anywhere yet.

Sorry, I guess I didn't quite understand the proper definition of what constituted cross posting. Since I only check messages in the forums that are relevant to the brands I own I was thinking it would be ok to ask the question in both forums with some slight changes to wording. I bought one of the IO Magics with a Lite-On drive. I got a SHM-165H6S.

Interesting...did they include a black faceplate as well?

I found this while searching, looks like they are using SHM-165H6S drives.
