HELP Need Experts on LTD163 - Club CDFreaks

I have a HP Computer which came with a DVD Drive. In device manager it comes up as LITEON LTD-163. It has a firmware version of GKS3. That is what I need help on GKS3, there is no such firmware for a LTD-163 ever names GKS3. Anytime I try to upgrade the firmware with firmware from the LITEON website it doesn't recongnize my drive as a LITEON LTD-163. Even I tried the newest firmware under windows it says "Drive model didn't match" even though it is a LITEON LTD-163. After reading many threads in the forum the only thing I could come up with is that HP is doing the same thing as DELL. I know Dell has there own firmwares LITEONS so I'm thinking HP does too. But still I want help on how to upgrade the firmware for my LTD-163 and what da hell is firmware GKS3. Also the new fimware caches data, will there be any performance change in Easy CD Creator when rippin tracks?

Use the Mtkflash program and a lite-on firmware file (not an .exe).

Go into DOS and follow the instructions on how to use the firmware uploader. Do a search for Mtkflash on these forums and you'll find plenty of info about it.

Yes, Hp does as Dell and as Fujitsu-Simense.
If you want to flash your drive with a Liteon fw, you can do it indeed with Mtkflash, but you don't have to.

Visit my site and download GH4F, it will flash ANY drive which is ltd-163. After that you can flash with any newer LiteOn fw. I recommend GH5E which you can get at my site as well. It does not cache audio!

You might want to consider backing up your present GKS3 before you start. For doing that you will need Mtkflash...
