I already tried unistalling/reinstalling the drive and Nero as well. Also in DVD decrypter it says something like input/output error or something when I try burning.

I can't understand why It would work one day then suddenly stops working

Re: Help me with LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S SCSI please....

Welcome to cdfreaks.

Consult your mobos manual and make sure JMicron IDE is correctly configured in bios. Also check for propper tools on your mobo's drivers CD (or tools you'll find at their homepage support section.

Don't know about your mobo but you can identify it with CPU-Z, (download, unzip and extract in folder of choice).

Hope others also have some ideas...

Re: Help me with LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S SCSI please....

This problem has occured many times. It's getting out of hand. Your OEM driver doesn't handle the DVD+RW format command. The fix is apparently to use an MS driver, or update the OEM driver.

By the way, the SCSI thing is sort of absurd too. Of course you don't really have SCSI. XP calls any controller a SCSI if it doesn't use MS drivers.

See this thread:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread....04#post1667804

P.S. Where did you buy a new 1693? Those drives do burn and read Verbatim DVD+RW better than my newer drives.

uhm... by saying drivers you mean my dvd burner drivers? I'll look for one. thanks a lot. I burned one DVD+RW with the same kind once but It didn't work again.

Regarding where I bought my drive. It came with the computer when I bought one here in NZ. It's a customized PC not any of those Dell crap. LOL

Thanks a lot for yout help! I'll keep you guys posted if the new drivers work.

I checked my motherboard (mobo for short right? ) took me a while to figure that out lol. I'm using a ASUS P5B-E and on the and on the Jmicron setting is enabled and set to IDE. Although there are other modes that can be picked --->RAID and ACHI or something.

I tried looking for the drivers but I couldn't find them. What's an Ms driver? and where can I find one? OEM driver is for nero right?. I updated my nero to 6.6.0.18 said to be more stable because I couldn't find a OEM driver.

I burned one DVD+RW with the same kind once but It didn't work again. (hope this info helps).

Thanks in advance.

Download the JMicron driver here: http://www.jmicron.com/Driver.htm

MS=Microsoft - the driver as included in Windows
IDE setting in BIOS is correct

Re: Help me with LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S SCSI please....

As far as I know... I didn't install any new drivers to my DVDRW. When it the computer boots up Jmicron will automatically detect the name of the optical drive.

I've downloaded the Jmicron driver but It'll only say that I already have the latest driver for it.

How can you tell if you have an MS driver or not?

Look for "Driver provider" in Device Manager. Try "Rollback driver" to go from JMicron to Microsoft.

Re: Help me with LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S SCSI please....

Hi,

it is not the driver for your drive, but the driver for your IDE contoller (here: Jmicron), that might have to be replaced by a MS standard IDE driver.

Re: Help me with LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S SCSI please....

YES!! FINALLY IT'S WORKING!!!

I looked through the Device manager and found out that the SCSI/RAID Controller had a Jmicron Driver so I switch it back to a MS driver.

Thanks a lot guys!!!!

I was beginning to think that I should cut my losses and buy a new DVD writer.
