explanation needed

I just burnt a DVD-RW with Nero and it failed to complete, with the error message "PMA UPDATE FAILURE".

I tried playing it in my burner, the 811S, and my DVD player LT163, and nothing.
I decided to erase it using DVDinfoPRO, and suddenly all the details show in the media tab (after the alleged erase mind you), and the movie is now perfectly playable.

Does DVDinfoPro have some sort of repair ability, or is it that a PMA update failure only causes a temporary failing to read the disk after the burn.
