LiteOn / PLDS/ Sony Burner Discuss, Can Anyone explain this? at CD and DVD Burners forum; I noticed something very interesting today. It seems that the standard time for 12x burns on the Lite On 1633S is usually around 7:15. I burned some MCC04 at 12x, with a Yuden T02 strategy, and as expected, it took 7:15. I then used a Richoh JPN01 strategy,

Can Anyone explain this?

I noticed something very interesting today. It seems that the standard time for 12x burns on the Lite On 1633S is usually around 7:15. I burned some MCC04 at 12x, with a Yuden T02 strategy, and as expected, it took 7:15. I then used a Richoh JPN01 strategy, with 4x and 8x ticked, and recomended tweaks. Another 12x burn on MCC04 then only took 6:22. It seemed to start faster with that strategy, at about 8x after a few seconds, and then worked it's way up. (Z-CLV?) Anyway, I was just sort of confused about these results. Maybe 12x is this short with stock firmware, or MCC04 strat? Haven't tried that yet...

Re: Can Anyone explain this?

Different leadin/leadout times.

A TY T01 burnt using a T02 strat *always* takes longer than a T02 using a T02 strat for me. The difference appears as the T01@T02 takes a significantly longer time during the leadin laser calibration.

Re: Can Anyone explain this?

So what media have you had sucess in overburning? I've only had sucess with MCC04 at 12x...T01 didn't do so well..and neither did Prodisc R03.

Re: Can Anyone explain this?

I've done T01@T02@12x with the old BS01 firmware, but haven't tried that with any of the newer firmwares (I hear that it doesn't work as well with the newer ones).

Otherwise, the only overspeeding that I do is 4x->8x (I have a ton of 4x media).

(PS: overburning means burning extra data; burning at a faster speed is overspeeding)
