832s big problem WONT burn dvd video!!! - Club CDFreaks

Hope someone can give some answers here as I losing just as much hair as I am dvds

My Liteon 832s is doing some funny things, It wont burn DVD video in nero I cant select the Joliet option or the Mode 1 and its greys out, also some other functions are greyed out in other parts too.

I then decided to try instantCD thinking it might help but I got the access error 00000000 and so on, it doesnt even know my dvd is there

It was writing half of a lead in then would spit out the disk, now it wont even get half way with a lead in and it spits it out

I went to Liteon site and got their latest firmware in hope that it might help, so thats loaded now but still no good.

Here is my error log from Nero, if anyone can help then let me know what I could try, dvd writer cant be buggered up already as its only about 5 months old and had little use!

I don't think we should confuse what you are burning with your drives ability to burn. First test that your drive can burn as it may be a media issue. Get Nero CD-DVD Speed and use the create data disc option to burn a disc. Post the resulting transfer rate test and quality test. See this thread for details on how to do that.

Here is the scan, as you can see it failed, maybe I need to try again? what do you suggest?

I hope you can shed some light on the situation as I am lost as to what the problem could be.
Seems to burn in copytodvd and apollo copy but Nero doesnt like to copy any more, also note that I have used this media before with a few coasters but I cant get a good one of it now?

Yep, your problem is most likely your media. SKC Co.,Ltd. is very low quality media. Also Liteon drives prefer DVD+R media. You can use bitsetting to make it compatable with older DVD players.

whats your suggestion on media that will stop causing is so many problems?

odd thing is this media was writing fine and then all of a sudden I must have hit a bad spot.

Once I know a decent media to use that isnt going to cost a small fortune Ill get a couple of blanks and burn em to see how it goes.

You may also want to try flashing your 832 with the newest CodeGuys CG5g firmware. I've gotten excellent burn results with it.

I will re flash once I figure out things, I did have the drive flashed to the latest but being that it was having a spit I flashed it back to Liteons firmware until I could figure things out, thanks a heap
