Upgrading Plextor 161040A firmaware? - Club CDFreaks

For the life of me I've been trying to update the firmware on my Plextor 161040A from 1.04 to 1.05 and I cant get it to work.. I keep getting the error message: PX-W1610A not found. Make sure the drive is connected properly and the unit has power.

Now my burner is recognized in WinXP and is always on.. I have burned numerous CD's but I cannot update the firmware..

I have updated my Aspi layer to 4.70 and still nothing..

Any suggestions?

Disable DMA for the burner first, and try upgrading the firmware again.

I am having the same problem but disabling DMA in the device manager doesn't work. However, I have not yet removed the Ultra DMA hack yet, so that may solve my problem.
