Something that's to be found in both PT and PTXL: In copy mode you have to select image file first, then you can make your choice which one to burn. It takes two clicks. Shouldn't one click on file open be enough?

Now, that's interesting: Regardless of cpu usage and background programmes (including Nero Vision Express recoding a divx 5 file to mpeg2 and Imgtools Classic), VirtualDub managed to capture a tv programme from the ConvertX TV402U in divx with absolute synchronicity of video and sound. Plex people, feel challenged!!!!!!

Wellllllllllllll, the stream comes out of the device in both cases. It is hardware-encoded when it comes out. What is it that causes a delay in one programme without any background activity beyond normal and doesn't in the other case with heavy cpu load? Does it really mean that encoding to mpeg2 takes more processor power and shifts the video part while encoding to divx (again: with hard work to do for the cpu) does not? I have my doubts.

Yep, but nothing about asynchronous video/audio encodes on this page for the TV402U (built-in tuner). This is what's puzzling me. I don't know what VirtualDup does what the other programmes don't (PTXL and Intervideo WinDVR). Of course, a divx file takes at least one more step in dvd authoring, but a bit rate of 4.5 (average) and above 8 (peaks) does not leave anything to be desired afa quality is concerned. (The cpu load with VirtualDub was at 95 percent and still audio and video were synchronous while starting Firefox often is enough to bother PTXL and WinDVR.)

BTW, I think the new drivers (2.3.0.5c) highly improve the quality of the video part.

Following up to the above: Is there any chance we'll be seeing 1.03 for this drive? 1.02 was released in February and has several issues (see also the above thread):

- 8x and 10x +RDL writing quality. We're far from usable 10x as advertised for this drive!
- DL additional media support
- overburning support for +R
- CD-R writing quality (especially low and high speed, medium speeds seem ok)
- SpeedRead issues, read issues
- Autostrategy bug (see PX-760 and http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...1&postcount=89)
- broken Beta/Jitter scanning on DL-media

The PX-755 seems to be an extremely capable drive, but right now it's like the hand brake is still pulled half way ...

PX-755 FW 1.02 writing-strategy for MCC 004 and Video content


Writing @16x with AS (result very similar to this: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...01&postcount=5) or without AS (result very similar to this: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...7&postcount=86) will produce a minor stutter/readback problem in a standalone player (Sony, stated to be compatible with DVD-R(W) ) @0.7GB position, where 8x speed is reached.

Similarly writing @8x with AS (see attached scan) will stop playback in an stand-alone player @0.7GB positionwhere 8x speed is reached.

Same content on same media burnt @16x with 716a FW 1.09 plays back fine.

Improve 8x writing quality with Ricoh 8x +RW (RicohJPN W21) on 716, 755 and 760, because it is inacceptably bad.

Hi Arrow, I am struck with the same write problem. I can't even get 6x to work on my 755A. The first write is ok, the second one poor and after that, it is russian roulette if the disc will ever erase again. I just lost another W21 that way. Just to make sure, I stuck a very poorly burned disk (pie up to 1500) into a GSA-4167B and rewrote it 8x (without prior format) with very neat result. So it is not the media. This is really bothersome. The king of quality eats away my disks! I wish there was usable media. But I know of no working alternative.

Re. PTXL and video capture: I suggest to enable "DVD compliant" as soon as the user sets mpeg-2 as the output format. Otherwise, the clip is hardly playable.

A change in writing speed sometimes causes a huge jump in the Beta graph (or general readback problem). Examples:

Similarly the recalibration-points of AS when reaching 8x, 12x and 14x speeds can cause playback problems. This seems especially true for the 0.4GB position, where 8x is reached (sometimes also @0.7GB position). Even more especially true with MCC 004 00.

Writing CDRW UltraSpeed+ media (Verbatim 700MB 32x, Mitsubishi Chemicals Type 5) with PlexTools Professional 2.35 results in an error at the 08:10.50 position (where Z-CLV switches to 24x?): "Unable to seek to requested position (030300)". This happens on brand new as well as on used media.

In contrast the PX-755 can write these same media (FW 1.02 and 1.04):

Interestingly doing a full erase on such a media written by the 755 is possible for the 760 without producing that error. But immediately rewriting that same media with the 760 fails with the same error.

1) Please provide an option that lets one disable the graduated backgroud of the scan-results, because (for example) when saving the results as graphics in the case of PNG-files it triples the file-size!

2a) Also add the ADIP/ATIP info to the overlay text as in PlexTools Pro.

2b) Make the Overlay-Text configurable (like the DAE-File-Name options "%N, %T, %A, etc.) with Test-Related info.

3) German language file: Quite a number of different translated texts (button labels etc.) gets 'cut off' when displayed. This is probably true for other languages too.

Something seems wrong with the writing-engine respectively the compilation handling. Apparently before starting a writing-process the filenames in a compilation of files are NOT checked for conformity with the ISO/Joliet/UDF-Standards. Instead the writing takes place and the file comparison test afterwards happily reports loads of errors because the directory-structure of the disc is bad to begin with ...

I found the above because when i used Nero 6.6.1.4 to do the burn instead and then Nero complained about these filenames in the same compilation and corrected them automatically (albeit wrongly - but hey, thats Nero). And Nero was right to complain, because some of the filenames contained indeed big NONOs when it comes to filesystem conformity.

Correcting all filenames manually to standards made the problem go away.

Could we please urgently get a check on ISO/Juliet/UDF conform filenames before a burn is started? Seems quite essential to me, IMHO. In fact i rather think i'll have to stop using PTP(XL) just because of this because an (even accidential) error in a filename can ruin a whole disc!

The all-on-one test takes the settings for the graphs from the settings for the singular tests. However it seems that the 'average' line in the PI/PO-Test is always drawn in the all-in-one test, even if it is disabled in the singular test.
