| PX-716A: Settec AlphaDVD+V50K C.08? G'day all, I have a couple of Plextor PX-716As with "Settec AlphaDVD+V50K" C.08 firmware. Does anyone know if this firmware version has any special features? The drives with this firmware are incompatible with Plextools Professional. Regards, TerminalVeloCD

| Re: PX-716A: Settec AlphaDVD+V50K C.08? Interesting find you have there. Settec Alpha is a DVD copy protection scheme. Maybe these drives can either write (create) that sheme when burning or those drives are unaffected by that scheme when copying it. My guess is these drives might have being used in a duplication tower for small series production of protected discs. | Re: PX-716A: Settec AlphaDVD+V50K C.08? AFAIK there exists no tool that let's you extract Firmware from a Plextor drive. As for crossflashing: if Plextors regular firmware-updater accepts the drive as target it should work out just fine. |
