I have a problem with my writer, it seems that i can't burn any cd above 4x (for CD-R) and 10x (for CD-RW) without using Burn-Proof tech, above those writing speeds the burner stops many times during the process. Problem with Plexwriter 24/10/40a

Hi all.

I have a problem with my writer, it seems that i can't burn any cd above 4x (for CD-R) and 10x (for CD-RW) without using Burn-Proof tech, above those writing speeds the burner stops many times during the process. CPU is used at 100%
But this only happens when I have Win XP installed for a resoanble amount of time (if i have a fresh copy of Win XP this problem doesn't happen).
I first thought that could be a problem related to HDD fragment, but after I defrag the hd, the problem still occurs...

Could someone help me?

Have you checked your DMA settings? Its somewhat common for WinXP to drop from UDMA to PIO mode for no visible reason.

You can check in system devices under the corresponding IDE controller properties - advanced features tab (or something)

Depends on what you have installed on the primary IDE channel. Generally speaking hdd should run @ UDMA or higher while your recorder @ UDMA2.

If you have set it to DMA if available and it doesnt change its status after a reboot, then try uninstalling the corresponding IDE channel and rebooting in order to let the OS re install the drivers. That should set it back to DMA mode.

[Edit] You beat me to it [/Edit]
