Can't read CD-RW on other reader Using a Plextor 15/12/32 burner, and ECDC 4.05 I made a TDK CD-RW full of pictures for a friend. She received it, but is unable to read it. In fact she has tried it on three different machines; two running XP and one running Win98. She's French and I'm having a tough time translating the terms, not to mention the general language, so error messages may be unintelligible. Her main computer is very recent and running WinXP. The CD drive may be an "LG" 52/24/52 CD-ROM/CD-RW/DVD-ROM 8520B 1.03. She has Nero software for it. I don't understand this but she says she got an error message saying the CD is not a Windows System File? And she says her CD Burner returned an Error: Session 01 : (609 Mo) track 01 : 00 :02.00 69 :12.04 (610Mo) [mode 2] Unknown system I suspect I failed to "close" the CD after the burn, but I can't be sure. If that's the case, is there anything she can do? Can Nero close a CD written on another machine by ECDC? Thank you, Mike

Possible causes: 1.Could be the older Direct CD used a version of UDF not supported by Windows. XP supports UDF 1.02, 1.5 and 2.0. 2. Roxio may also have used some compression that makes it unreadable. 3. Shutting down or ejecting the disc before the application finishes writing all the data 4. Nero won't be able to close a Direct CD disc, but Direct CD can fix a UDF disc. created with Roxio See Roxio's kbase http://www.roxio.com/en/support/kb/ecdc/eez000024.jhtml

Thanks for some interesting ideas. The CD was written in ISO format, so I doubt there's much point to using a UDF reader, but I'll keep it in mind. I am careful about completing a task, so I doubt that I might have pulled the disk from the drive before it was fully baked. I don't know if Roxio might have applied any unusual compression, but you never know. I will try the website you suggested. There's probably a FAQ or something that might cover the situation. Thanks again, Mike
