Any new super fast Plextor DVD Burners?

Hello,

I have a 755 in my old PC and I'm getting to build a new PC. I'm happy with my 755- no pucks so far. Anything new that I should consider? I don't think I'm ready to buy a BR or HD burner. Their web site has an 18x burner but I figure since a lot of companies have 20x burners already, plextor must have a 20x or faster in the works.

Thanks

No the 760A, 760SA and the Premium 2 are the last of the real Plextors

Dang, thanks - I was hoping to put some insanely fast burner in my new PC that I'll probably be bulding by the end of February.

Dude there are plenty of awesome burns available right now. Get a Pioneer 115 30 bucks free shipping . There are plenty others that are great. There are also pretty good SATA burners available now.

Plextor will not be putting out any new drive as far as I have heard. They have exited the Opitcal drive business and are not producing any " Real Plextor Drives" I believe the last was the Plextor 760A.

Actually, Plextor will continue to distribute optical drives for the foreseeable future. That company just no longer designs or manufactures optical drives. (In other words, Plextor now simply buys other companies' optical drives and slaps its own label on them.)

Thats what I meant to say, the real Plextors, made by Plextor not rebadges are gone. You will probably see other manufacters drive rebadged as Plextors.

The other answers says everything I guess. But I give you one special advice . If you retire your old PC. Keep your PX-755A out and build it in your new PC, or in an external enclosure. At least your Plextor is a great drive for scanning (and of course burning) in case an 18x burner is to slow for you in your new PC.
