So far so good , ripping a dvd at 5.8 speed instead of the usual 1.8 speed.

Hmm , 7.5 speed and rising

Ripped THREE dvd's within half an hour.. this is great stuff.

I hope they will also make such a firmware for the Toshiba M1502 (which is my other dvd player).

OMG having a burner (Plextor PX-W1210A) installed along with the Toshiba SD-M1712 caused the flash utility to loop some # infinitely. I even had the guts to interrupt that process several times as I removed my pci ata controller card, using different startup disks, and finally disconnecting the burner to get that flash utility to work properly. So glad my Toshiba is ok.

My first time flashing firmware I believe. Is it a given to only have one device on an ide cable to flash devices successfully?

You might want to just paste the links into a txt file or even use bookmarks, you dont have to post on every thread you want to bookmark.
