will not fit on my cd

Ok, i did this before & got all the files on there. A few weeks ago, I burned 4 MP3 files onto a 700 MB CD. The MP3's together = 328 MB. But for the life of me I can't do it again. It's just a recording of 4 sermons that we did at church. The cd says not enough room. It's 328 MB of data (about 5 hours of sermons). If I'm not mistaken, 328 is less than 700. I even mereged all the MP3's so they are 1 large 328 MB file. So I'm stuck. I've tried Nero, windows media player, windows xp pro, Acid pro, wavepad ...... I'm stuck. I want these because I don't want to have to burn 4 cd's everytime someone want's to listen to our church's revival.. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: will not fit on my cd

Hi there,
Are you trying to burn as an Audio CD, or as a data CD?

I burned it as an audio before, & I'm trying to do it again. So that our congregation can listen to it in their cars. Is there any software that will do this or any tricks you can point out?

Re: will not fit on my cd

5 hours won't fit an Audio CD. 80mins is the limit.

No problem doing as an MP3 (data) CD but most CD players won't recognise the media.

Re: will not fit on my cd

I know it will fit. I did it before. Isn't there a way to tell the pc that it's 328 MB of space instead of 5 hours of sound?

Re: will not fit on my cd

Do you still have the previous CD that you burned?
If so, it may be worth checking in it in your computer to see if it in CDAudio format or as MP3.

I agree with TimC that you won't get 5 hours of audio on a CD even if the MP3 file is smaller than the CD size - unless you burn it as data.

As audio, it will not fit in a CD, as data it will.

Re: will not fit on my cd

It's really simple, kyle, as many people here have already explained to you, but I'll try it in my own inimitable way: Most burning softwares assume that you wish to make an AudioCD when you feed them with mp3's. You therefor must deliberately force the program to make a DataCD for you, containing the original mp3-files and not the "mp3 converted to CD-Audio"-files (which would be roughly 10 times the original mp3 size).

Re: will not fit on my cd

No I understand that, but the cd's will be for ppl's car's. Most are older cars anyway so they won't play mp3's. So I'm still stuck.

You're only stuck because you don't want to accept that you can't do the impossible.

In order to get unstuck, you have to decide to go either of these routes:

1. Burn in CD Audio format, using e.g. one CD per sermon. You can fit 80 minutes of audio per CD, so if all sermons are 80 min or shorter, you can fit each one on one CD.

2. Burn in Data format and put the MP3 files on the disc. Such a CD will only be playable in some players.

There is no way of putting 5 hours of CD Audio format onto a single CD so forget about that possibility - it just doesn't exist.
