Are the Verbatim Taiwan SL DVD+R good enough? Can't find jap or singaporean ones.

In general, Verbatim media Made in Taiwan is very good including DVD+R.

Is there a specific batch or model or something that corresponds to these disks? How can I find out which one am I using?

If you're talking about media codes, the Verbatim 8x DVD+R from Taiwan will usually be MCC 003 and the 16x DVD+R will be MCC 004.

There have been some Verbatim "Pearl White" DVD+R media Made in Taiwan using other media codes: CMC MAG E01 and RITEK R03

Start Nero CD-DVD Speed, place your media in the drive then click on disc info.

The majority of Verbatim DVD+/-R media are manufactured by CMC Magnetics in Taiwan. They are excellent discs.

Is +R better than -?

If your dvd player supports DvD+R, or you have the ability to booktype the DvD+R to DvD-Rom then I would go with DvD+R. The tracking and speed control is more accurate at higher speeds, It has a more robust error management system and additional session linking methods are more accurate resulting in fewer damaged or unusable discs.

So did you download Nero CD-DVD Speed and figure out you MID?

There is a theoretical advantage in using ADIP and and a high frequency wobble system instead of the land pre-pits used by DVD-R, but that makes little difference for consumers. DVD+R should also theoretically cost less than DVD-R (no need for double-beam mastering or initialization), but the reality is sometimes the opposite. DVD+RW, however, is far superior to DVD-RW.
