TSST corp CDW/DVD TS-H492A stopped working

Ok.. Hello. I am REALLY stupid when it comes to computers. Most mornings, I am surprised that i can get this hunk of metal to turn on. This is my issue, which I am sure has been posted before, but I can't seem to find. So please bear with me.
I have a TSST corp CDW/DVD TS-H492A. I WAS using the burner on it just fine for quite some time.. then all of a sudden nothing. I keep getting an error and it will not read any disc I stick inside what I consider my new cup holder.
I have gone into MY computer and tried to delete the thing and reinstall it.. but when I reboot.. nothing happens and it is still there. I have a yellow !! by the name of the cdw and must have a virus of some sort. I am not sure what I need to do here. Can anyone help me before I pull out the REST of my blond hairs?
Thank you kindly!

Re: I am such a MORON!

power off PC, disconnect all the cables to the drive, reconnect cables (be sure of a good connection) and power on. Then retry

Re: I am such a MORON!

Hi and Welcome!

You might start with these important FAQ and articles about troubleshooting:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=118794
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=83984
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101616

Regarding your yellow exclamation mark - please check the properties of the drive in device manager, as there should be some error code that might be helpful to narrow down the issue. I guess, this MSKB article might apply: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
