Transfer mini-DV tapes from camcorder to dvd

I have a lite-on lvw-1107hc1 and a pinnacle studio av/dv card with software. I was wondering which way it will be better as far as video quality for transfering the mini-DV camcorder tape to DVD recorder or using the PC?
I guess I don't understand which format the DVD recorder uses to record(Mpeg1 or mpeg2...etc). but the only problem I see if I use the dvd recorder I would have to import the VOB files in order to edit the video and reburn it back to DVD.
I would like to retain the best quality and don't know which way to go...
Thanks

Re: Transfer mini-DV tapes from camcorder to dvd

When using Pinnacle sudio 9.4.3 with the dv 4 pin to 6 pin connection I get an option to capture in dv , mpg and preview.
I am copying miniDV to PC to burn to DVD. Which capture option do I use?(DV , MPG or Preview).. Maybe a few tips from the kind people would help. Thanks
