I am having a 'wee' bit of hassle making a backup of a game disc which ClonyXXL v 2.0.1.3 reports as being : SecuRom *new* v 4.83.11.0005.
Also,when I do a 'Bad Sectors Search' I am presented with :Bad Sectors v 4.83.11.0005 ,is the version number just left over from the SecuRom message or what?
I was about to try a copy using CloneCD v4.0.1.10 but Clony threw a message at me telling me that CloneCD isn't capable of writing this protection method,is this true?

I use a Teac W540-E drive.

I understand that SecuRom new may be unnoticable until the game is actually installed onto the HD?

Can anyone help me out here as my young lads (6 & 8) are particularly keen on this game and aren't too fussy the way they handle discs,I do have a no cd crak installed incase anyone suggests it.

yes clonecd can't copy SecuRom >4.8

you have 3 options:

1. read the image to HD and use a virtual drive to run the game

2. use blindread/write with the twinpeaks method (no sure if it still works with the newest SecuRom protection)

3. read the image with the DPM function enabled and burn it with the RMPS fuction enabled (alcohol 120%)
you need alcohol or deamon tools running in the background to let the back-up work.

I read somewhere else about someone using "the twinpeaks method" of which I know not a lot,do you have any nfo on twinpeaks,is it an image patcher?

I was having a looksee at the Alcohol site a few days ago but generally use Nero & CloneCD.I'll go back and have a closer look and see if there is a trial version available for d/l.

I had hoped using CloneCD to write it in RAW-DAO etc would have worked but no.

Still works with 4.84. See here so it will work with this version.

I am going to try a couple of those possibilities asap!!,I did go as far as d/l'ing a trial of Alcohol120% but hadn't gotten round to installing it as yet.

It does appear though that that might not be the s/ware to use,I have always used CCD & Nero and am wary of installing other burning s/ware and havoc caused with aspi drivers ,boot-managers etc.

I will go get BlindWrite and give it a spin as it does seem this is one of the few that can handle '4.84' .
