you can use feurio and EAC to read the music tracks of a protected audio cd

CloneCD should also be able to do the job depending on the reader you're using. The method oaky mentioned is for more easy though. The new PlexTools also seems to be able to do it (read this).

Good luck

The problem is, Huzzy, If CloneCD can't copy it, EAC won't be able to rip it.

Not entirely true... Programs like EAC and Feurio simply ignore the data tracks and go straight to the audio tracks. Therefore they can simply extract the audio while CloneCD (because of its sector-to-sector copying) also needs to read the (protected) data tracks and thus has more problems.

Won't CloneCD be able to copy the CD, even with protection, at least as well as Feurio or EAC, even if it retains the protection?

(I have no commercially protected Audio CD's, only ones I've made at my home, so I don't know if this is true, I'm just drawing info from other posts & my own experiences with emulating cactus, etc.)

Music copying cd's

Hi All,

I've found if you don't use something like Nero and use th "audio" file option the you get to much "NOISE" on the new burn. Any one else found this to be true? I've found this to be true with CloneCD..

If you have a good reader CloneCD can copy the discs with the (data-) protection intact. There have been quite a bit of discussion if you should use CloneCD to copy audio discs. Well sure CloneCD can do it but like I said it was intended to copy data and not audio (sector-to-sector copying while audio is best copied with normal DAE). Another advantage when copying the protected audio discs with EAC or Feurio is that after extracting the audio and writing it to a CD-R you get an unprotected disc which now can more easily be copied again with CloneCD or whatever.
