Combo = 2 (CD writer & DVD reader) in 1 box , so to say .

Dual DVD burner = the one that handles both DVD±RW formats, i.e "-" & "+".
Most all recent DVD burners are dual, so you don't have to worry 'bout that much.

combos or DVD burners

Is it true that combo drives now dominate the PC market but that is expected to be replaced by DVD burners this year?

Well, for a lot of people, combo drives are very conventional because of:

1)They have 2 types of drives in 1
2)They are cheaper than buying the drives seperately
3)They save space in the computer
4)Depending on the drive they have little or no difference to a regular CDRW or CD reader in terms of performance.

Never heard of such statistics.
I believe the PC market is still dominated by CD burners, which getting cheaper and cheaper.
Who knows when the replacement takes place ?
Perhaps it won't happen until the DVD burner is as affordable as the CD burner.
