Is one-to-one even realistic anymore?

I've been reading about CP for a long time. And I'm curious, since I haven't seen any guides, is making a one-to-one copy of an original even possible these days? Say I want to stow my originals away (since those around me abuse the f*ck out of my CDs), can I make an exact copy, copy protection and all, or do I have to make with voodoo like mounting virtual whatever and mini whatnots and no-cd somethings?

Say I go out and buy F.E.A.R. it's one of the latest versions of SecuROM... I have a LiteOn 1693S... what portion of the equation translates into me being S.O.L. on being able to 1:1 copy and not have to worry about patches and daemons and such?

Do I have to disconnect my drives? Why is it such a pain in the ass to make copies of software you own?

Re: Is one-to-one even realistic anymore?

The answer is simple when you ask yourself why they use copy protections.
