omg, Now my monitor isnt working, Help please. - Club CDFreaks

My monitor only shows green light, and now i have swapped it with my other two, and they only show green as well. they all work on my other computer, so i wonder if it is the graphics card? is there any quick fix? any help will be really appreciated. Its just one thing wrong after another. Thanks again.

Could be anything! I would be interesting to see the replies on this one! Also go to the harware section and post this!
R&R the video card and do you have a built in video on the MOBO? How old is your computer? Might be boat ankor at this time!

Some MOBOs have a reset button on the MOBO!

this is a stretch, but one thing that has worked for me when a moniter and pc tank like this. physically unplug the moniter and the pc. both the video cable and both ac power cords. What till you hear the slight buzz of discharge. unplug and then replug all the cables on the back of your pc, then plug your moniter back into pc and plug in the ac cables to each.........try to boot.

seems odd, but seems to discharge pent up load or trapped line noise or something, works sometimes.....

Nah Zig, more than likely some dinky IC somewhere in the works took a crap. Unplugging the power would make it reset.

thanks, and the pc is a 2002 compaq, the video card is built into teh motherboard.

Hiya, if you have tried 3 monitors that all work fine elsewhere and all display the same problem with your CPQ pc I'm afraid you will need to swap out your video card. It's not as bad as it sounds!

Though your video is part of your motherboard, if you open the case and take a look inside you will probably find several free PCI slots (they are white and will be aligned with removable blanking plates on the rear of the pc.

Get hold of a cheap PCI video card and install it in one of the free slots after first removing the blanking plate on the rear of the pc. Make sure you earth yourself by touching the pc chassis prior to touching the video card or playing around inside the pc...you dont wanna fry any chips with static electricity.

You may need to look on the motherboard for a jumper that will disable the on-board video. It will be a series of 3 small pins with a small connector on 2 of them and it will probably be labelled VGA or some such. Remove it and place it in the opposite position. Plug in and start up...you should have a good picture now.
