Not so simple plug & play for the clueless

I just purchased a LG GSA-H62NK DVD burner from new egg. It came with no cables or directions. The reviews on newegg were "simple plug & play". We'll I guess I'm below Nubie... The "plugs" removed from my old drive are "pins" and the new burner doesn't have "pins". I found onlu one "plug" (HDD2) to fit the two slots in the back and plugged that in. It's got power, but doesn't play or read. Can anyone help this "unplugged" nubie. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum

Since you have the power sorted, it sounds like you need an SATA cable in addition to that. Edit: I believe Newegg also sell those.

Do you know if your motherboard supports SATA?

Thanks for the reply! I believe the motherboard accepts SATA, but I'm unsure. The computer I have is a DELL XPS-600.

OK, looks like it has both SATA and IDE onboard. Have a look on Newegg (or go to somewhere like Fry's or Best Buy) and see if you can pick up an SATA cable.
