Nero 6.6 - Unknown Name, etc. in 'timed' burn

Hi folks - I haven't the foggiest what to put as the title so I'm sure it's a bit misleading and for that, I apologize.

I have searched (and searched) your site to see if someone else has posted this but to no avail (or I didn't search properly).

My problem is quite simple and hopefully there is an solution and if not, then very doubtful I'll use Nero again. Here's why.......

I LOVE music and prefer to 'rip' my own CDs (into mp3s, min. 192 kbps) and then burn using just the 'time' (78 min) as opposed to an mp3 burn (700 mb or so).

Now, when I have burned a CD in the latter format, once I put that disc in the car or on another computer, the track listings, artist name, etc. appears. However, when I burn a CD by the normal mode of just 78 to 80 minutes, all the track listings, group artists, etc. show up as UNKNOWN on all players. Even on my own computer, the windows player doesn't show the song titles, band, etc. But it does when I burn the disc using the 700 mb way.

Does any one understand? I love how NERO works with the overlapping of tunes but I really need to see those song titles.

Any help??

Thank you so kindly.

berjo

P.S. Great looking site!

By "time" I assume you actually mean an Audio CD.

With an mp3 disc the players are either picking up the tag detail or just using the track file names.

With an Audio CD all you can get is CD-Text. So either your car CD player can't read CD-Text or none is being written by Nero.

Note that Windows media player won't read this from a disc anyway.

I'd suggest you try Burrrn (www.burrrn.net). This is easy to use & free & provided the ripped mp3 tracks have the correct tags then CD-Text will be written and provided your car CD player reads CD-Text you'll get the titles coming up.

That's my main point... not being written by Nero. For such a recommend product, shouldn't NERO do so? I'm sure it does but unable to figure out.

Are you sure? I believe I burned an audio CD ages ago using (not sure, could of been mediamonkey, roxio, etc.) and the titles came up. Again, not exactly sure.

Okay - it's a simple burning tool (which is great) but no fancy editing like NERO (crossfading each song even on the burn!, etc.). But will the song titles show on windows media player or other players?

Again, thanks for the help! Much appreciated.

As I said Windows Media Player doesn't read CD-Text, neither does Winamp.
