I have win XP Pro and recieved an error message while logging on, saying my profile was corrupt and to contact the administrator.

Anyway I couldn't recover the profile after a lot of fussing I couldn't copy some of my saved files either. I deleted the user and created another, the problem is that teh files that are left will not allow me to access them. they are still in the documents and settings folder and I'm the adminstrator.

Please help as all I really need is my favoruites folder as the rest is not really important.

Try to take ownership of that folder.
Maybe you set te wrong permissions on that folder when you created it.

Try creating another account as a standard user and make part of the admin group. If this doesnt work,
try and see if the properties are something like hidden, read only,
systems.

But do check the permissions.

But try this to
Log on as admin, rename the ntuser.dat file and log off and log on again as the user and see if that works.
