Welcome castle1500,

could you be a bit more precise about your problem?
Is the DVD scratched, is it an original or a backup, which firmware do you use, which media brand, which software do you use for playing...?

Re: Lost-the complete first season not playing

The original retail package of Lost the first season. I put the dvd in the drive and it does not recognize that there is a dvd in the drive. It plays in all other set-top dvd players attached to a television. Any other cd or dvd works just fine in the PC.

What do you mean by "Please delete"?

Did I post this in the wrong place on the site? I couldn't figure out which category to use.

Re: Lost-the complete first season not playing

I moved your thread here as it's a better place solving your problem and I can't delete my own post here so a moderator/admin can delete my post not your's as mine was some kind of an accident
For your problem did you try any other CDs/DVDs with the drive that isn't working with the same result?

Stand alone dvd players are more "forgiving" then your PC.
Take them back for exchange.
I often find that the TV series discs are not of the highest quality.
What have you got to lose besides a trip to the store.

maybe your pioneer drive needs a replacement, or it could be the disc itself.

This could be your problem. I suggest you install XP Service Pack 2, which has a number of essential updates.

Re: Lost-the complete first season not playing

Ran into same problem with Talladega Nghts on my laptop with slimtype drive. When I tried it in my tower it booted right up. I've tried everything I know to get this thing to boot but for some reason it does not recognize this DVD.

Welcome to the forum...

A) Which problem is yours the same as?
B) Does your laptop not have SP2 installed?
C) Is it an original pressed DVD of the movie, or a backup?

Re: Lost-the complete first season not playing

I have a JVC combo VHS DVD player recorder that cost me almost $500 dollars when purchased in May 2004.

I recently ran into a problem with a DVD movie purchased from Amazon showing up as "unreadable disc" when trying to play it on that unit. After returning it and getting a replacement I had the same result with the new one. I asked my neighbor to try it and it worked just fine. I tried it in my PC's DVD deck and it worked O.K.

Checking with some people with more experience I was told older DVD players are not always compatible with new DVD discs and that I could check with JVC for help or buy a new unit.

I bought a new Philips for $29.00 and use it for playing DVD's. It is only two inches high and sits on top of the JVC which still works well for VHS play and transfer of VHS to DVD using the recorder. Low prices solve problems easier than customer support numbers.
