| Lite-On 1213S@1653S - I'm searching for firmware Hi, I have Lite-On 1213S with TS0D firmware. I have problem with DVD writing. In Nero I had a "Power calibration error". I had, because I changed my burning software. I'm thinking about crossflashing my drive to 1653S. It can solve my problem (I think  ). I searched for 1653S firmware @ codeguys.rpc1.org but it is down. Has anyone a link to firmware which can I crossflash my drive? See here on how to get the disc information of your media: http://club.cdfreaks.com/580276-post3.html Also, when you find that information, please tell us at what speeds you have been writing the media. I'll answer your question based on this information.

| Re: Lite-On 1213S@1653S - I'm searching for firmware Okay, yes, in this case, crossflashing the drive to 1653S will help, as far as I know. TDK 003 probably wasn't supported in the 1213S, in any variant of its firmware. To crossflash, I would choose the firmware I point to in the picture below.

| Re: Lite-On 1213S@1653S - I'm searching for firmware Well, I edited my post above. Since you've already backed up your firmware, I'd suggest you back up your EEPROM. Then just download the firmware I suggest in my previous post, extract from the .RAR, and just flash. It's pretty easy. If all else fails, you see the green text in my screenshot? When you go to the Codeguys/CodeWorks site, you can click it and it'll send you to a page with some directions on how to crossflash [and look at Method 2: Pre-patched]. That's all you have to do.

Just click on what the arrows show in my screenshots below to get the EEPROM Utility. After downloading the file, extract the program from the .RAR, and run the Utility. It should be self explanatory. If not: You'll be presented with a number of tabs. The first tab should have options for backing up the EEPROM and restoring the EEPROM. Those are what you will use. You don't have to use ANY OTHER OPTION, and using some of the other options will probably just fail. also, the CD Freaks thread for the EEPROM Utility: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f44/eeprom-...ferrerid=65105 NOTE: Do NOT confuse firmware for the EEPROM backup. And make sure you keep up with both in case you begin to get bad burns.

| Re: Lite-On 1213S@1653S - I'm searching for firmware Although you shouldn't have to do this, run the EEPROM Utility again and "upgrade" the drive to a 1653S there. It might change something, or it might not. If not, roll back to your original EEPROM and firmware and try to see if it works.

| Re: Lite-On 1213S@1653S - I'm searching for firmware TDK 003 isn't supported at all in the firmware, I don't think...and if it is, it's very poorly supported. Also, I have no clue why your drive can't be transformed...can you list the exact steps you took to crossflash the drive?

Then I ran patcher. When the firmware upgrade was completed I rebooted the system. And this is everything what I've done. Also I tried to convert my drive with EEPROM Utilty, but it doesn't help too. |

| Re: Lite-On 1213S@1653S - I'm searching for firmware To try to use your drive, you can patch the 1213S firmware. Download OmniPatcher from the CodeGuys/CodeWorks site. Extract and run the program. Drag and drop the 1213S firmware into it. There you will find 3 tabs, the second of which should have something to do with write strategies. In that list, find the TDK 002 write strategy, if it exists, and rename it to TDK 003. Save the "new" firmware, and close Omnipatcher. Then, flash the "new" firmware and you should have at least 8x for your media. You may try other strategies to get 12x.
