Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hi everybody, wish you a nice day/evening/anything ) on.I'm Robert from Hungary, Budapest, 37, married and have a supercute two and a half year old boy Christopher who created his first document on PC one year ago Been playing around with PC for quiet a time, but started burning CDs last year spring only and DVDs from this February on my NEC in my D600.Now I've just bought a Philips DVDR16LS Kit to dig deeper into DVD experience Searched & found useful sw on CD Freaks earlier, and like the site 'cause it's very well organized, and kept simple to enable me to find all relevant info. The only thing I missed now is the most fresh firmware for my new drive what I was able to find on their pcstuff page. Working for EDS physical security as manager and like my job very much ![]()

8424 Hi! I'm a novelist and I work on a Macintosh Powerbook G3 Wallstreet. I am a US Merchant Marine licensed master 100 tons and I write a lot about the sea — of course with much drama, adventure, horrendous situations our hero barely escapes, romance, and, or course, torrid sex. Most of my work is text. I have a Yamaha 8424 burner and it, along with Roxio Toast Titanium 5.2, has probably been the most problematical hardware/software that I own. I have successfully backed up on the equipment, but with frequent glitches. At present — and this is why I am on your group (our group?) (which I fortunately found on a web search) — to find out how to solve my most recent, and worst, problem which is that I am getting "recorder not recognized" and I am finding no way to get it recognized. After much consulting the Roxio discussion group, I realized that a yamaha group would be much more appropriate. Thanks. I am open to any and all feedback. Rafael PS I'm not sure if I've written a new post or a reply because I haven't entirely figured out your site/

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! I am a 35 years old Hawaiian trapped in North Carolina (wife is in medical school). I am a stay home dad to our 2 year old (Willy Boy!). Just recently I tried to make Dvd's to send home. After lurking in these forums for 2 days I found the solution (upgrade firmware, crossflash, and use correct media). I had no idea how to start and now everyone back home (Hawaii) is enjoying movies of the newest member of our Ohana (family) some of who had never seen him before. I just want to thank everyone new (questions) and old (answers) for their dedication to sharing information and guidence. Truly Knowledge is Power.

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hi, My name is Tan, I've just registered. I would like to seek for help on how to get PDF files from a CD-ROM. When I run a program file on the CD, it allows me to open a pdf file in a directory on the CD-ROM like F:\Data\01 ccd.pdf but I cannot see the directory outside the program. Hope to receive your help, Thanks

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! The names Stephen. I love my cars, I love my computers, and I love my woman. I hate copy protection schemes that prevent me from doing legitimat backups of my software that I purchase. I feel very strongly that if I am unable to protect my property by copying them to another media, then I should resort to using cracks, no-cd apps, and any other means to keep my investment safe. Thats my stand. While reading around this site, I've noticed that most people like making actual CDs for backups, instead of using virtual software. Lately, I can see why, but I still prefer having them stored on a drive in ISO/VCD/Whatever format and accessable when I want them. I'm VERY disorganized, and I'm surprised I've kept as many originals as I have over the years. Virtual Software is fine in my books. About me.. Right now, I'm in a really tired mood, and should wander off to bed. I'm a software developer. I have commercial software out on the market that deals with insurance inspections. I have made a few weak web page that have come and gone, but I've got one still in active development that is being used in a production environment at my place of employment. .. I still should wander off to bed... I own 5 computers. Two of which I use daily at work, one is an idle server who's unplugged, and who's CMOS battery is probably going to die in the next few weeks due to inactivity. I have an AMD machine thats going to get put into a suit case. ... yes... A suit case. As a case mod. Looking forward to starting the project, just a matter of finding time to do it. My main machine though... This gurl I've built has soaked up a LOT of cash over the last year I've owned her. .. bed?.... Intel Pentium 4 - 2.8gHz Hyper Threading CPU. 2meg On Die Mem. - Upgraded the heat sink to a 100% copper sink, and a 7000RPM fan. ASUS P4P800 Deluxe Motherboard ASUS v9990 nVidia 5900 128meg AGP Video Card Corsair 1gig Kit Memory (Recently upgraded from 512meg kit of Kingston Memory) 80gig Seagate 7200RPM 8mb Cache HDD - Holds the OS 80gig Seagate 7200RPM HDD - Sits in a USB Enclosure 200gig Western Digital 7200 HDD - Holds the data Sony 4x DVD +/- Burner - Sits in a USB Enclosure LG 40x24x40 CD Burner - In machine LG 16x DVD Player - In machine 350 Watt VERY high end PSU - Dual fan (Sucker ran me close to $150cdn before taxes) Two 8CM constant speed 5000rpm case fans - One at the front, one at the rear. Dual 17" CRT Monitors Audio hooked up to a SCOTT Amplifier, with KLH speakers. Had a 4.0 Stereo system going with a second set of amplified speakers, but kinda blew them up. Analog TV Tuner Card - Decent video, but, through cable, and I'm NOT a cable television fan. HP Laserjet 4 Plus Printer. Another oldie, but rather this than any ink jet. Canon BJC1000 Printer (Old, but prints great colour shots when needed) 5 button Microsoft Mouse. Only weak point of my computer is my keyboard. I hate it. Its a Logitec Media Keyboard. Bring back the 104 STANDARD PS2 KEYBOARDS!!!! ... mmmm.. comput.. no.. BED!!! Software wise, I have approximately 47GIG worth of CD images on my computer that I successfully have used with Virtual Drive Pro. ALL of which I have purchased legally. MOST of it works without `ENHANCEMENTS` to the installed executables. ... sleep.. .. Recent (Within the last couple years) software I've purchased... Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Does not work with the VCD software - So I found a NO CD Patch to play. Sim City 4 Deluxe - Needs a patch to run with VCD software. Need For Speed Underground 1 & 2 - Both games work perfectly with the VCD Software Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 1 & 2 - Both games work perfectly with the VCD Software Monopoly: {chuckle} HAD to get it. Works great with the VCD software. Homeworld 1 & 2 - Both games work perfectly. Juiced - Did not copy. Wasn't impressed with the game. Should have read reviews prior to purchase. Rail Road Tycoon 1, 2, & 3 - All work well. Version 1 was given to me by a friend legit wise. He couldn't beat the tutorials. :/ The Sims 2: Works great with the VCD. Some of these games I've lost the originals due to a flood in the basement, or damaged by a leaking pop bottle and not realizing it till the mouse sticks to the goup (What a fun clean up THAT was), so THANKFULLY I had my VCDs stored. Backups are great. Being organized and keeping fluids away from computers IS better in some cases. ![]() Ok.. Bed calling. Gotta go. ... ... now... .. really.... .... ... *looks down the hall*.... somewhere over there.... .....

Didn't introduce myself! I'm littlesister .......Amy! My brother, a comp whiz with the military gave me the nick........don't ask! Every time I have a computer question he tells me to figure it out and hangs up. Gotta love him, got my 1st computer by building it piece by piece and just last week I rebuilt my 1st laptop....woo hoo! I even fixed my grandmother's computer by turning up the contrast on her moniter....she thinks I'm a whiz. I fix alot of computers (about 1 a week) and don't have the verbal knowledge to sound intelligent so that in itself is a gift. Any help with my cd burning problem is more than I can ask.
