Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hi. I'm MajorHart. I run the Pride of America Mall at http://pride-of-america-mall.us the Pride of Kansas City, the Idaho Trader at http://the-idaho-trader.com I sell webspace and turnkey websites - Most can be seen on my Idaho Trader. ============ I'm hoping you can give me some information. I want to have a program that copies video and sound as I go around my computer (opening ebooks, etc.) and on my 5 websites - producing a file or files that can be burned to a demo cd or dvd - playable on a tv dvd player. I have a radeon 9000 card which allows output to a tv - I did the above - going to my http://the-idaho-trader.com and sending it to the vcr connected to my tv, and my iLO dvd recorder. I went into my jobs turnkey desktop, classified, medical resources, webstore and a lot of places on my 5 websites - sending it all to the dvd and at another time - the vcr. All were recorded to vcr tape and dvd - however, all were blurry (unlike my monitor which is very clear) How can I make a clear demo dvd with a tour of my computer and my websites and the programs they link to and make them ready to record to dvd. I have a dvd recorder on my computer and one on my tv. The tour would take about an hour - I have 1 gig ram, 160 gigs hd and 2.1 ghz speed. Also - is there a name for what I'm trying to do? Thanks - John Hansen majorjh@socket.net

| Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! PC based Video tutorials. Reason-> PC resolution: 1024x768 TV Resolution: 320x240 (640x480 interlaced). The TV/SVHS output of your radeon9K is downsampled to the low res, which means where you had crisp 1 pixels lines on your monitor, you have 1 line combined with 2.2 lines next to it. This question is best asked in one of the technical sub-forums, rather than the newbie forum ![]()

hello people I've just joined. A 62yo retired print journalist making slide shows and movies, with a lot to learn. There seems to be many issues with DVD players, and whether you use +R or -R, some players do not co-operate. tobacco_diy

Re: hello people A good afternoon old man Welcome on the cdfreaks forum. Hope you have a pleasant stay. There are indeed a helluva lot of standards in todays DVD formats. For the most time a DVD+ writer and a region free PAL dvd player are anough though (99% of the pal dvd players can copy with NTSC as well, so therefore). There are some nice articles on the cdfreaks main page about which format (+ or -) to choose.

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hi, I'm donina and have just discovered torrents. I've downloaded avi.bt files, but can't open them with any media player plus codecs I've downloaded and am really exhausted of trying to solve the problem. No FAQ or forum have an answer and I hope someone here can help.

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hello everybody! I'm an Italian hardware genius (well, if my girlfriend is to be believed :P). Nah, just kidding, I'm just your average tech head with a thing for outdated but still useful technology (not that I don't like bleeding edge stuff, mind you), mp3 players (although I'm a little pissed off by ipods) and sheer mass storage :P I'm also interested in general hardware. Sadly, the lack of an income source (I'm a student) forces me to keep most of those interests to a theoretical level ::sighs:: Lessee, what else... I hate micro$oft with a passion and I love Linux (but am currently not using it, due to it not supporting my notebook well). However, I've grown out of that hateful phase where the answer to every windows user having trouble was "get linux" :P Some more random information: I like too many kinds of music to mention them all, but I loathe the likes of britney spears, boybands and so on. I hate conformism. I like nice cars, but not necessarily the fastest (my favorite car is the BMW 8-series. No, I don't like BMW's new models, in fact I think Chris Bangle is a loonie). To sum it up, I like technology in general... I also have a deep love for cats. ![]() Edit: pssst, Donina, have you downloaded just the torrents or the entire files with a bittorrent client? Also, if codecs are your problem, try VideoLan (aka VLC).

The ".bt" extension means BitTorrent is still using the file as a temporary file. Avi's will need to be downloaded completely before you can play them, unless you use a program like "Virtual dub" to extract sections out of it.

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hi, I am UK based and have just treated myself to my first PC based DVD writer (a Sony DW-Q28A), so I'm trying to learn how I can best use it. I want to be able to use my writer to burn freeware BMW F650 motorbike maintenance disks for distribution in the UK and also back up my DVD collection. The standalone DVD players I have are a Panasonic DMR-E85H and a Panasonic DVD-RV60. Now to dig around the other forums for some advice. Cheers PB
