Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Howdy all,

Found the site when trying to learn about my new Plextor 708UF2 DVD writer. I'm a 28yr old process engineer for a battery startup in San Diego. I used to think I knew alot about computers, but I realize I'm far from the bleeding edge on most of the issues. I can program a cnc controlled laser welder to do things even the manufacturer said wasn't possible, but have trouble remembering all the different dvd formats and burn speed configurations. Amazing how much harder play time is than work time huh?

My pc:
AMD Athlon XP2700+ (stock speed until i get water cooling)
728mB DDR 333 ram
Asus A7V600
Creative Audigy 2 ZS
15" Gem LCD
160GB Maxtor SATA
20GB Maxtor EIDE
Logitech Cordless LX700
Plextor 708UF2 TLA-0101 firmware 1.05 (using USB 2.0 interface)
Lite-On 466s
I forger which brand cd burner ide

My wife's pc:
HP Workstation 4100 something
Intel P4 2.8GHz
15Gig IDE Quantum Fireball
70Gig IDE WD
768Mb DDR 333 Ram
Logitech Cordless Elite Duo
Vewsonic 15" LCD

and I've got 2X2.6GHz Intel P4 sitting in a drawer unused, along with a library of unused 20-40Gig hard drives. Could i use the dual 2.6GHz chips in a multiprocessor board?

My Introduction Of Me

I come in peace, all I ask is for your unconditional surrender. First I need to find someone who has a Emprex DVDRW 1008IM and running XP. Then I shall begin my destruction of Hollywood profits by forming an underground exchange program.

p.s. If you didn't join this forum before me don't talk to me or I will eat your children.

Your Emprex drive is a BTC DRW 1008IM so i think that the BTC Forum is a good place to find answers.

Hi, I'm Vicki from North Carolina. This forum was recommended to me by a friend because I'm having problems with my DVD Burner. I have a new NEC ND-3500A. I'm using the latest version of Clone DVD but every DVD I burn has problems. They won't play at all or they pixelate so badly you can't watch. I would certainly appreciate anything that anyone can do to help. Thanks so much!

Please post the details about what you are using. With a drive as good as the ND-3500A, the most likely cause is POS media.

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Hi all,

As the name says, I'm Rob, I'm from Wales UK and I do a lot of audio editing work using Cool Edit, and quite a bit of CDR burning for different projects. I also build PC systems for friends and family and so I'm sure I will find this site useful for information and advice. Currently I am using a AMD Semp2400+512DDR2700+MSIKM4M+MaxtorDiamond80GB+Samsung HS522B+Samsung HS352A+IIyama 15" LCD+2mb Pipex broadband. If I am being honest I aint too impressed with the Samsung DVDR, but at least its stable and after 200 burns, no coasters.

The word 'media' refers to the type discs you are using to burn.

So this issue won't be lost, can you please start a new thread and also state what hardware you are using to play your burned DVDs?

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

I'm sorry ... I just joined this forum today and have no idea how to start a new thread. I've never joined any forum until today. I'm just trying to play my DVD's on my DVD player and television. I've tried on mine, my son's .... and several others .... so I don't think that is the issue.

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Hi everyone,
First off let me introduce myself a bit...
I'm from Vancouver BC, I'm in my 4th year of university, just got back from skiing at Whistler. And I got myself an NEC 3500 to replace the old and broken mitsumi cd burner. So far I'm very satisfied, it's been very quiet and reliable and I've burned 15 cd-rw's since yesterday. I'm just trying to figure out what brand of DVD+RW discs to buy, so I think I'll head over to the recording media forum...
Cheers!

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Hello you all

My name's Lia, I'm brazillian and i'm in my 16 atutmns...

I've been studying hardware and i'm starting out with a few visits here and there to fix friends's machines. So far they all had such simple problems that i feel like i'm robbing them!

And to aid my evil conspirancy to drain greenies from my buddies I started to burn cds for them (at a very special friendly price, he he )

I'm a regular nero user, still no dvd making, but since i've been at it for two weeks and screwed only one cd i think i'm going in the right way...

Just wanted to say a big Olá for all!
See ya!

Welcome to the forums....

To start a thread first go to the forum that matches your problem. In your case you need to go to the bottom of the page and see the forum jump drop down box. Drop it down and under recording hardware forum choose the NEC forum. At the top of the forum page you'll see a button that says New Thread. Click it and Give the your question a title and post your question in the message box. Just like your doing now. Make sure you read all the rules. Have fun and I hope your question is answered quickly and accurately.

Hope this helps

Tim

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Greetings, I'm the alpha-greyback-tech of my small local clan. I'm new to DVD burning; so far, have burned a few data discs - no coasters. I like the NEC 3500 fine so far; I got a lot of help from lurking around this forum for about a week; pariticularly from reading posts by Dee and Liggy - (using Liggy's 2.18 Ritek SE firmware so I can burn some RITEK R04's I got at the LA Computer Fair - seems to work fine). Vocationally, I'm a Network Performance Specialist - Mainframe for a large company. I understand why networks don't work right all the time; but, I've got a great deal to learn about why DVDs don't seem to 'work right' in many cases. After I learn to interpret the graphs that come out of some of the Nero Tools I'll be better off. I'm glad I found this forum, and I'm glad to be here.
