I just joined earlier tonight. My main purpose in all this wasy to find a way to copy some CD's that have encryption on them, Age of Mythology among others. Three hours and many articles later, I am much more knowledgeable about CD protection, but still not on my way to actually making a copy.

I am very impressed by the forum and the incredible willingness to help by the veterans. It's amazing what you're doing here.

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Hi, my name is Janie, I got my first computer in 1998 and think sometimes it should be grafted to my hip for the amount of time I spend on it. I am going on 57 and have 8 grandchildren and one on the way. I have worked many years with and for those with Developmental Disablilities and what they have taught me could fill a book or two. I take all kinds of "online" classes (as my job hours are never the same) of things that intrest me from classes pertaining to work, to psychology. I love learning and I believe that to keep learning is to keep the mind fed and growing, which in turn keeps me young!
Now if frustration with things I think should work on my computer did the same, then I should be just hitting my 20's. LOL Now mind you I love a challenge but this DVD burning is not what I expected. I found this site because of having problems with this and will post my problem. I know you can help me..remember I am fairly computer literate, but am willing and able to meet any challenge. So hi to everyone and you will see and hear from me soon. Janie

Hello all,
I'm Ken. I've been burning cd's for some time but just bought a dvd burner and, as usual, am having some problems. Google led me to this forum and hopefully yall can help me figure this out. From what I have read so far there seems to be a wealth of experience here. Thanks for providing this forum.

Hi,

Been buring CD since 2x and DVD for a while (but only limited to movie backups). Now I'm into backing up my PS2 games and also trying my hands on PAL to NTSC conversion.

Hi,

Gotta to this page through a simple search, but i must say that this forum rocks, as it is full of info and guides. My first cd burner was a scsi yamaha 16 speed and since then i have changed at least 3 or 4 units ... (mostly out of curiosity)

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Believe it or not that HP CDriter 2x2x4x is still in service at my work in a celeron 333 box. What a torture it is to write with that. 45 minutes to copy a 400MB cd

Now I'm using a Sony DRU-710A dvd double layer burner and a TDK 4800B cdrw.

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Hello there i am new to dvd/cd burning. i am a grandmother of 4 girls and one boy. I wish to know if there is a way i can find a dictionary or something here or anywhere online for all the dvd/cd terms. i have spend the last few days just reading the posts here and realize i dont understand enough terms to start. I have an external iomega super dvd writer 16x(dvd-+rw/+r/cd-rw) and internal cd-rw and dvd-rom. i use my dvd/vcr to really watch all my movies. i have a gateway 500 series gamer with lots things i dont know how to use yet. i have had the win 98os for years so this xp is really different for me at my age LOL. so glad i found this site i think it will help me.
