Hey everyone....

Name is Jarod and I've also lurked on the board for a bit and decided to join as it's a very informative board. As with most people on here I love computers and still consider myself a novice. I mean how much can a person possibly know about something that changes so frequently?

Read all the responses and there is quite a crew here from all over and all different ages. I like that as it gives you all kinds of different perspectives and ideas.

Well I'm 34 and married, will be 10 years at the end of the month. It's like an old saying that I saw on another board: "Women, can't live with them, can't kill them and get away with it." Gotta love them though

I live in Washington and yes I'm not that far from Microsoft, I even work near there. I'm a certified software/web tester and currently working at Nintendo in that area. Before anyone asks... yes I do get to play games a lot but the great thing is that they are really laid back... as in I go to work in tshirts, shorts and sandals. Anyways, great board, glad I found it.

Hi...

I just stumbled in from the cdrsoft forums and saw that i'd found a really great site for information about anything related to cd/rw... great site however there's one thing i am unhappy about:
the site (not the forum) doesn't work properly with mozilla... it kinda makes me sad to see that everyone on the internet only writes for IE-compatibility, not HTML-compliant anymore... :-/

well, i'm going to introduce myself:

My name is Sergei Gradski. I'm a 19-year-old student who spends too much time and money on his computer
I'm here to get information on how to copy CP'ed discs - I often just copy discs to see whether I can.

Well, there's not much more to say about me...

If someone's interested, here's the specs of my PC:

CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1800+ watercooled by ZERN
MB: ASUS A7V333
RAM: 2x256MB Infineon CL2
Graphics: Abit Siluro GeForce4 Ti4200 w/64MB
Sound: Hercules GameSurround Fortissimo II Digital Edition
HD: Seagate ST380021A 80GB 7200rpm with fluid disc bearing
DVD: Toshiba SD-M1612
CD/RW: Lite-On LTR-40125W @ 48125W
INet: T-DSL 768kbit down/128kbit up

Windows 2000 Pro SP3 & Windows XP Pro (soon SP1)
All newest drivers

yup, guess that's pretty much it...

see you around in the forum

Sergei

Well, dont I feel stupid now. I guess I will remain the apparently only Eastern European person here. This just goes to show that you cant read someone by their name. But you have to admit that your name does have a scent of Russian in it, perhaps a relative?

Howdy

I'm a former gaffer for video & film turned corporate guy living near Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My day job is managing a corporate broadcast/webcast facility, and my nights are filled with learning the wonders of electronic media, with my main hobby being CDR media snobbery (here's a sample comment: don't ever buy Office Depot brand CDRs because I've got two that are rusting after a year!).

We're a 5 burner household; we bought our first one (an HP 7100i 2x) four and a half years ago, and wouldn't you know that the next four combined cost less than the 2x! The other four are: Yamaha 8x, TDK 16x, Buslink/Liteon 32x and a Buslink 40x (my personal fave for reasons explained below).

After having all of the flavors/versions of EZ CD, I'm totally in love with Nero Burning ROM, in a large part because the last 3 drives came with lite versions of it, but also because it's actually "E-Z'er" than EZ DC, and I can burn with more than one drive at a time (the TDK 16x & the Buslink 32x play best together @ 16x; don't know why).

One of the larger challenges had been trying to get Direct CD to play nice with Nero BR since I've had nothing but problems with INCD. Guess what the answer was? I completely gave up on using CD-RWs! They are so slow, and can literally be 100 times more expensive than CDrs, so the heck with them! The best thing about my newest drive is that it will play ANY CDRW regardless of the buring software (sorry about the shout, but this really cool).

Also, this plays into my plan to discover which CDR media is best since I'll have 1000s of disks created over a period of years from many manufacturers with which to test. By the way, the HP gold disk that came along with my first burner? Still works just fine, though I can't say the same for the rusting Office Depot units!

So much for a quick hello.....

Hi Everyone. My name is Glenn but have gone by Chainsaw since high school. They said I cut down quarterback's in football like a lumberjack does trees, hense the name. (Actually averaged about 7 QB sacks a game).

I am 35 and have a BSc in CS and Mathematics and graduated back in 1990 (forget how to even do a derivative now!!)

I have been happily married for 5 years (1987, 90, 92, 95, and 99!!) Sorry that was bad. Been married happily for 15 years with 3 great kids (12, 10, and 8).

I am now an MCSE and MCT and currently employed as an Information System Manager for an international Mining Engineering firm based out of Northern Ontario (Great White North as some call it). I am in the 4' of snow and -40 degree celsius climate and absolutely love it (hate heat).

Other than work and my kids, the rest of my time is spent playing with puters and mostly computer games. I used to be a big RTS fan but spending more time with FPS games now and currently addicted to CounterStrike. I have a DELL Inspiron 8000 and a beauty of a desktop I am in the middle of building. In fact I already have an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro on order seeing as it whipped the 4600Ti's butt. (I don't think ATI is too popular over there - check out the review at :
http://www17.tomshardware.com/graphi...819/index.html).

I am brand new to CDFreaks but hope to be around quite a bit.

sorry for ranting.

Hey, have to support a Canadian company - I have always been a Matrox and ATI fan but with the performace of this new Radeon 9700 Pro, I can finally say it is not just because it is a Canadian company. It's performance is amazing. I am even looking at buying the brand new ASUS AMD board just to get an 8X AGP slot to really make it go.

Will the upgrades ever end. LMAO

Cool and welcome, but I wish you had replied in this thread instead of starting your own, would have saved me the trouble of merging...

But please enjoy your stay and read the many helpful sticky threads in the respective forums, they're a great help.

I'm David from Michigan.

I'm self-taught on all this, so my knowledge has a lot of blanks to be filled.

I use a iMac/superdrive with Jaguar.

Just a time-consuming hobby; I'm mainly into driving my WRX and spending time with friends.

I'll probably check in on cdfreaks about twice a week.
