Hey everyone, My name is Richard. I live and work in Louisiana. I am a municipal employee who loves working with computers. It seems that whenever anyone has a problem, they come to me. I guess I know just a little more than all of them. I am in no way a know-it-all, but I like messing with these electronic wonders. I love to find the faults and better them.

Guess one just might call me cd-nut770-Poppy ... 63yrs old and quickly attempting to "stay up with the pack" ... a lot of learning to do yet...

I live in Locust Grove, GA ...

Only got here because of a search for a driver for my dvdrw ... as of early--yesterday afternoon it WAS a LITE-ON SOHW-1693S. I ran some software I picked up here and turned it into a Sony that still won't recognize a cd or dvd in its innards. Now all I want to do is turn it back into the LITE-ON ... That'll teach me to flash a bios without looking at what I was doing

I've been into computer for a long, long time: nothing like Grace Hopper or a bunch of the early internet folks but I was there when it all happened <g>

I'll still keep looking for what I need to reverse-osmosis <g>

i am in bangalore india.
i have 15 yrs computer usage knowledge and 10 yrs of internet.

I'm Mike, as you can tell in my Nick which is part of the family nick.
I'm an OLD guy of 60

lol and still trying to learn this stuff. I have enough knowledge to be Dangerous and enough sense to know when it's over my head, like NOW. I built my own machine but that doesn't mean I know everything. It just means I can read and follow instructions. I would appreciate all the help I can get before I get out of hand and Blow things up, in my line of work we call that " letting the smoke out" LOL.

However

I have a problem!!

I own a Toshiba Sattelite A100 laptop/notebook.
I am having problems with the dvdrom, it is a Matshita UJ-841S "SHITA" being the correct verb to use when describing it.It plays any cd/dvd commercially produced but when I want to record any files it tells me there is no cd in the drive. I have dozens of empty new cd's that are "ruined" by this operation.
I have checked the drivers, they're ok
I have checked settings in properties but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas.
I do have 4 year old Ei Systems Notebook would the dvdrom in that fit the Toshiba?
