Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! hi, I can do most anything unless it is mechanical or has to do with being able to envision? electronics. I have managed to download music, make cd's, get my daughter's name on 3 web pages, use photoshop..and it probably takes me 3 days to learn what most of you know in minutes. I don't understand computer terminology or abbreviations,i.e. HCL,etc. However, I am focused and can sit at the computer for 24 hours straight when I really need to learn something. Some refer to this as "beating dead horses".I was prompted to join this group because FINALLY, someone HERE described the same problem exactly; that I am having with my notebook's DVD/CD rom player= Toshiba sd C2502. I have spoken to microsoft, the manufacturer. I have searched online for months but No-one ever had heard of being able to play a DVD but not a naudio or readable CD. I am a mother, wife, business major, RN, and have a BS from SUNYAB. If someone is willing to share their computer skills in the future, it will be greatly appreciated. Because of my persitence in resolving computer issues, I have picked up on a few things that might help others,i.e.When my new notebook DVD player would not work "at all", it took HP months to finally "suggest" that I should make sure that the hardware accelerator is moved to the right...simple right? That was after installing, uninstalling, etc.etc. Hopefully, I will have something to offer on this site. At this moment I need to find out how to remove the DVD CD-rom from my notebook, in order to clean off the area with the 3 screws and an aluminum plate...that which I read about on this web site. Nice to be here.

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Probably won´t be posting much for the first few days because I´m sifting through the hundreds of pages of info just to see what I can learn before asking something that gets asked like every day!

| Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hey there! My name is Josh. I'm a German guy and moved to the states in late 2004. My English skills have developed drastically since then, but I still make some errors. I am 17 years old and I'm currently attending high school in North Carolina. I am about to become a CNA (certified nurse assistant). It's just a matter of weeks until I get my certification (if I pass the exam )I am highly interested in computer graphics design and 3D design. Unfortunately, my computer is a little old Japanese man (sorry Japanese people, I respect you all for all the great games )I am a RPG-gamer and strategy-gamer. (that is why I registered here, because I wanted to backup my stuff) If there's anybody who feels like chatting with me, my ICQ number will soon show up in my profile. You can PM me as well. Bis bald, See ya, //SunWatcher//

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hi all. "TNT" here and man I'm glad to find this Forum! Looks like you guys are much help to many. I'm almost a complete novice to DVD backups, a little better then that with computer "lingo" as a whole. Just to be up front, I have very low vision, so that "might" explain some oversights with my super dooper magnifier from time-to-time.....as well as some "typos". lolI'll use the search, I'm far from lazy with that, BUT may call upon help before I pull my hair out. I currently hold the honors as the "World's Slowest Typist" to boot! With me, there's no such thing as "A" stupid question. Your more likely to find that there ALL pretty stupid, coming from me. Anyway; thanks for the open forum.

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Im new too. I am trying various types of software to back up my ps2 game Star Wars Battlefront but having no luck. I have tried the following clone cd, alcohol, dvd decrypter and nero. the only one that worked reasonably well was clone cd until it reached 83% copying then stopped and would not progress any further. Any tips or ideas would be much appreciated. Paulo22963

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! My name is Frank. I have competed all my life, running CC at school, racing motocross on a Bultaco Pursang 250 (long time ago), ran marathons, and ride a mountain bike on trails. I do a lot of photography work, and burn CDs for runners and bikers. I often create a CD of several hundred runners in races, and offer them for a very small price to cover my expense (no profit here). My newbie question is: Is it possible to format the CD to make it visible on computer screens, but cannot be burnt onto another CD by anyone? Thanks

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hi my name is Mike and I'm old. NOW, I like to burn my "owned movies" DVD disk to backups. When the grandkids come over I've seen my disks used as flying saucers and " let's see if they work in the VHS player "...lol. For backing-up I use these three programs to do this with a Sony DRU-820A. 1.AnyDVD 2.ShrinkDVD 3.2 3.InterVideo DVD They make my life sooooo easy for this backup job. I do have some questions I need answers to, that's why I'm here. Last edited by mikkaph; 21-02-2007 at 03:51. Reason: misspelling
