Hi, i need some help using Sound Forge!!!

Hi to everyone i'm new here, i have a problem whit Sound Forge, i have the 5.0 version, the thing is that when i record vocals using Sound Forge it's very difficult to control de gain, if i scream too much the sounds gets distorted, i need a plug-in that can control the input while i'm recording, i downloaded a compressor and a limiter, but only works after the sound is recorded, i need while i'm i'm recording...

Does someone knows what can i do?

There are RT limiters but it may not respond fast enough or add distortion, etc. Have you considered doing an analog recording first? Analog has a lot of headroom above 0dB and can handle peaks without distortion. Then you can digitize it to a save level.
