Re: Helo...can I use tv tuner for capturing vhs to dvd What TV Tuner product & model number do you have (ATI, Pinnacle/Dazzle, etc.)? I ask because some TV Tuners only allow you to watch TV. Others have the ability to capture a VCR's signal and should have all the software you need to meet your basic needs.

Re: Helo...can I use tv tuner for capturing vhs to dvd If the VHS tapes aren't macrovision-protected commercial tapes, then it will probably work. Attach the VCR into the cable input of the tuner, tune in to channel 3/4 and play the tape.

Re: Helo...can I use tv tuner for capturing vhs to dvd thank you for your reply, it is a lifeview (flytv) usb 2, it has some inputs in the back (hope they are not outputs, couldnt even find the manual in internet) the inputs (hopefullY) are "Video", then a 4 pin thing (I guess it is the svideo eveybody talks about, looks like old ps2 mouse , then "audio" , then the "TV" which I used to connect to cable tv input, (i recall its software had something which I could save the tv on hard driver) thanks

Re: Helo...can I use tv tuner for capturing vhs to dvd Your best choice would be to use the video/audio inputs rather than the TV input, it will improve quality slightly. S-video would be even better but your VCR almost certainly will not have an S-video output unless it was a SVHS (Super VHS) VCR, which is highly unlikely by the sounds of it.

Re: Helo...can I use tv tuner for capturing vhs to dvd I saw your product on the internet and there is a manual included with the installation CD. I hope you saved the CD or backed it up as this should give you detailed instructions on using the program. Otherwise, you could e-mail the company and ask for a replacement copy. I believe your package has everything you will need except the audio/video cables and these are available at any electronics or well equiped hardware stores.
