DVD Writer Advice - Club CDFreaks

I am after a good DVD Writer. Which model / brand should i go for? cheers

Personal experience and opinion-SONY. I use their DRU820 (replaced by the DRU830) along with a Sony CDRW/DVD reader. In the years I have used their products-no issues at all.

The Pioneer 111 is the best model I own (of 10).

If your under desk location is in USA then today Fry's Electronic has Pioneer 16X daul format DVD writer on sale for $34.99 after $15 MIR which make it very attractive deal to buy if you decided to go with Pioneer.

What about a Pioneer v an NEC drive?

I have never had Pioneer but NEC I have had 3 so far and using now 3550@4551 with Labeflash which is great as far as performance concern.

Mine keeps showing as 8x burn on the discs i am using! I have flashed the drive but still the same!! Could be the Datawrite discs? They are 16x.

What drive are you referring to?

Also newer NEC drives have serious problems. Not so with the Pioneer 111.

It is the NEC 5170A. I was thinking of getting a Pioneer 111.
