dvd freezing

When i try and play a dvd it freezes about 15 minutes into the program. It was suggested that I may have run out of vitual memory. I din't know how far I can push this and what effect it may have on my computer.
Is there another poosible answer to this issue? I have a compag laptop with a 64 bit processor, running win XP Pro, 512 megs of ram, nvidia gforce 440 vidieo card. I've installed nvidia decoder trail version. Everything works fine until 15 minutes into the program.
Thanks Scott

What software are you using to play the DVD?

Re: dvd freezing

Did a program tell you you were out of virtual memory, or a friend stuck in 1998?

Re: dvd freezing

Looking at your specs, it has nothing to do with your RAM. 512 MB is more than enough, and I don't really think that it has to do with your virtual memory either.

Check the software and the medium. Try to play the disc avoiding multitasking.

Re: dvd freezing

I"m using windows media player 10. I'm able to play other dvds. I've also tried it in linux media player it would even load there but others will. I'm beginning to think it is a bad disc. I've updated my dvd driver and have cleaned the disc and my laptop.
Thanks Scott
