Dvd burner read problem and dvd burner suggestion

Hi everyone, i don't take any chances, i post here to be sure.

I buy in 2005 a Lite-on dvd burner SOHW-1633S.

Really good one, but...

Since 2 week, i am unable to read burned dvd disc.

I use many brand, verbatim, kodak, memorex, etc...
H
When i rent a dvd movie, everything work perfectly. But each time that it's a burned dvd, everything go wrong.

I try to put these burded DVD in other dvd drive in my house and everything work perfectly.

I have already contacted Lite-on and they have 2 anwser:

I should clean the dust with a special disc or my dvd burner is broken...

(I already have updated the frimwave!)

So seriously, my dvd burner could have just a bit of dust and my dvd could not read burned dvd?
Many friend say that no dust enter in contact with the lent or it's relly rare.
Should i really try to but the cleaning kit?

And...

If my dvd burner is done, do you have any suggestion for a good brand/product? I would like to have one for more than 2 year. It's possible? Or the product on the market are so cheap that they will not survive more than 2 year? Thanks.

Hi and welcome to CD Freaks

Can I just check that your burner will read commercially produced DVDs, but not recordable DVD media (even though these same burned DVDs will work other players)?

Can you burn DVDs, even though you cannot read them?
