Dual Layer Burning Problem

Using the NEC 3500 i have a blank dual layer Ridata 8.5G and i put the master movie in and open up dvd shrink 3.2 and le it go thru the analysing and then i click on Edit then Preferences and i take it off of DVD-5 4.7GB and put it on DVD-9 8.5GB and then run shrink and when it is done usually dvd decrypter opens up and burns the movie onto the blank but with the dual layer blank in there it comes up with error: I/O error then mentions the device my nec and gives a bunch of numbers ect and i click on retry it comes up with same box but also says cannot write medium-incompatible format. do i have to do something with dvd decrpter also like i changed shrink???

Re: Dual Layer Burning Problem

Why are you using DVD Shrink if you already have DL media?

Just do a DVD -> .iso -> DVD+R9 copy with DVD Decrypter. You can ignore dvdshrink if only using dual layer media.

Re: Dual Layer Burning Problem

I'm at work so I don't have DVD Decrpyter right now to play with so I can't make instructions. If I recall correctly, you have to put it into ISO read mode (Which is on a drop down menu) and copy the master DVD into a .iso file. And then put it on ISO write mode and burn that file onto the R9 media.

Make sure you have the latest version of DVD Decrypter and ASPI 4.60 installed.

Re: Dual Layer Burning Problem

ok, im home now and just did decrpter read and worked fine and put it on my c drive and the name of movie was there with extension of (.MDS) I Then changed the read to write and went to location of movie and clicked on at bottom to start burning and error came up again I/O ERROR, i then downloaded aspi 4.71.2 and i am running XP, here are the instructions for the aspi:
This file extracts by default to the c:\adaptec\ directory. If you have changed this directory, please note the directory you have chosen. For Windows 98, NT 4.0, ME and 2000, use the enclosed ASPIINST.EXE file to install the ASPI layer. For Windows XP, select Start - Run from the menu, and then the Browse button. Locate the INSTALL.BAT file in the directory the files extracted to and select the OPEN button. In the command box, add a space and either XP32 for Pentium I/II/III/IV processors or XP64 for Itanium processors. The command should look like: c:\adaptec\aspi\install.bat XP32 or c:\adaptec\aspi\install.bat XP64. Then select the OK button to run the XP installer.

i tried to follow instructions but when i went to program and run and went to aspi folder and opened it up, i found the install icon but not install.bat one but i double clicked ont he install and it went to dos black screeen and said press any key to continue and had the xp 86 and other items but i couldnt figure out how to add a space where it said ect. help.

Hey Ghosters....

Couldn't Goblue use the Force ASPI just to get the 4.6?http://clonecd.gearhost.net/clonecd/forceASPI17.zip Open this and run KILLASPI, re-boot and run INSTASPI, re-boot and use Nero info tool to verify the change. (If you have Nero) or Adaptec's checking tool. This link is compliments of COdeKing.

Re: Dual Layer Burning Problem

personally i'd forget the dvd decrypter method altogether. instead just use dvd shrink, full backup [ if thatz what you want ], save as iso, burn with nero. easy as !
