"decoding" or reading data from an .iso file

Hi all,

I have a problem that I hope you guys can help me with.

I have a Windows XP system that was "dying" (hard drive going bad), and we found that out when I couldn't install SP2. I used Roxio (believe) version 5.X to create a 3 CD backup of some files. Those files are perfectly readable by Roxio 6.X. I then used Roxio in a 'drag to disc' of my Outlook archive/.pst files. It said it copied them all, and there were no error messages. However, I believe but am not sure, that they were being used by Outlook or Mozilla at the time.

Now what I have is a CD with a .iso file on it. I have no idea how to get it read and turn it back into data. I have gone through www.smartprojects.com (?.org?) and tried to get it to read the file. It turns it into a .tao file. After reading, I understand these are image files, but have no understanding of what or what is the problem that I can't have something read this image file and turn it back into something usable (either Outlook or Mozilla mail data). Any ideas?

Thanks a bunch!

Victoria

assume you used isobuster ? so, launch isobuster/file/open image file...navigate to your iso file and double click it.
now highlight any or all files in rightside pane, right click on them and choose extract. also, you can expand the tree on the left and discover any more folders that are on the CD...if,say,it was mulitsessioned.

WinRAR should treat it like any other file, just right click it and then click "extract to..." also. UltraISO 7 will probibly be the best at extracting the iso's contents if they arnt perfect iso files.

Thanks guys. I tried the UltraISO and it can't read it, doesn't give me a list of anything. I don't get a list of files. The ISO file is 540752, so I know something is there.
