Sorry to sound so thick but i've been trying to back up my Original of Tiger Woods Pga Tour 2003 as my 5 yr old son always plays it and dont want my copy buggerd like hes done before , Anyway the original installs fine but when i try to install the copy i get 13% in each time and i get a CRC Error.

I have used clonyXXL and clone cd v4.1.3.9 but no use!! My CDwriter is an "ArtecWRR-52Z ive got a few coasters lol i've looked around the forum and read some other people have had trouble copying safedisc protection

I know you must have heard all this before but i've tried lots of thing over the last few days but all i get is coasters lol

I'd be glad for any advice or tips

If you get crc errors on installing, it means that it's a bad copy. Try reading and burning at lower speed, using better quality media, or both.

[Note though that the fact that the game installs ok from a copy does not necessarily mean that the copy protection has been defeated as generally the guard module only comes into play when you actually try to play the game after installation.]

Thanks for youre reply, what is the recommended read and write speed to copy safedisc protection?

I must add that i have made sucessfull back-ups before of championship manager 4 & 03/04, Enter the matrix, fifa 2003 etc with no special settings i left them all default and max speed but cant for the life of me make a good back-up of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 all i get is CRC errors when i try to install, ive tried different speeds and the safedisc aws profile from the forum but still no luck

Artec WRR-52z is this any good? Its worked before.

Ressurecting a dead thread here, but I'll add my 2 cents to this.

I've been trying to use Alcohol 120 to rip an image of the disc to my HDD so I won't have to tote CDs around with my laptop, I can just mount the image to a virtual drive instead.

I've had difficulty with 3 games, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Planetary Pack. Which is safedisc 1, Civilization 3, which is also safedisc 1, and Civilization 3: Conquests, which is safedisc 2.9.

Now here's the odd part, using the default safedisc profiles in Alcohol, I'm able to rip the image successfully. However during the installation process, I get a CRC error (which would usually indicate a bad rip). However if I install off of the original CD, the ripped image suffices to launch the game in all 3 cases, the emulations options I have on are 'ignore media type, launch cd/dvd manager without ignore media, and RMPS. NONE of the extra emulation is enabled.

So if I had a bad rip, wouldn't it fail the copy protection check and not just CRC error during the install process?

I've tried reading from a Pioneer DVD-ROM, DVD-115. And From a Lite-ON, LDW-451S with the same results both times.

Other games that just have bad sectors on the CDs for protection work flawlessly. So I ask, does anyone have an idea as to what's going on?
