Converting? A vcd movie is really a mpeg, to be played back on a dvd disk on a dvd player, you'd need to use an authorizing program like TMPGEnc DVD Author, I'm not entirely sure what it does to the video, I think it mainly changes the audio to 48khz from 44.1khz... I think thats how it goes anyway

Because some of the DVD players don't accept nor play VCD format videos.

Nearly all DVD players can playback VCD movies, just not svcd movies

I can't remember... but a vcd disk contains only a few folders, and in the folders you will find a really big file,(look for something 600-700MBs) I think it may be a *.dat file, copy that file to your harddrive and rename it as *.mpg then use a program like TMPGEnc dvd author to add the file, so it can get it ready to burn as part of a dvd disk, now I hope that is what you've been asking... you can fit about 4 or 5 vcd movies on one dvd disk doing it that way

It would be best to do a google for dvd author guide or something, I've seen a few, one may be on this site.

You have to extract the file, which a .dat file, to your HD. the program can do this for you, or you can try vcdgear
