Newbie Forum Discuss, converting to mp4 keeping menus at International Chat: General Topics forum; hi cdfraks i would like to know how to convert my vob files in h264 or divx like files keeping the partition of the chapters and the menù suddivision of the ripped dvd. i would like to do so without using retail software is it possible? also [it dont deserve

i would like to know how to convert my vob files in h264 or divx like files keeping the partition of the chapters and the menù suddivision of the ripped dvd. i would like to do so without using retail software is it possible?

also [it dont deserve but...]: is it true that dvd- is for data and dvd+ is for video (any type of video?)

While RatDVD will do this, it will be in proprietary format - meaning you'll need to have RatDVD installed on the playback machine as well. Also it requires a fairly hefty CPU. That's the only way I really know of. You can SORT OF do it with DIVX6, but that costs money.

acc. the propetary format... it's always is fault..

Well the issue is that none of the non-proprietary formats support things like chapters and menus... there's limited support for this stuff in DIVX6, as I said, but right now the only support for DIVX6 comes from DIVX.com, and they charge you for the privilege.
