| Converting BIN/CUE to ISO -- Why is ISO smaller? I have a Lite-On DVDRW drive that came with Sonic's RecordNow which only burns .ISO images. So, I'm using MagicISO to convert from .BIN/.CUE to .ISO but my .ISO file is about 75 MB smaller (every time!). Is this normal? Is it safe to convert from .BIN/.CUE? Am I losing any information? |

| Re: Converting BIN/CUE to ISO -- Why is ISO smaller? A very stupid enterprise. If the bin/cue should happen to contain audio then the iso will not. A bin/cue of a bootable cd will result in a non bootable cd if converted to iso. A bin/cue is an image of a cd, iso is not. |

| Re: Converting BIN/CUE to ISO -- Why is ISO smaller? Ok, what's the BEST package to record .BIN/.CUE for copy-protected CD's? I used to like Nero but now they bundle it with waaaaay too many useless features. I also like Alcohol 120% but it doesn't work with .BIN/.CUE I don't think. |

| Re: Converting BIN/CUE to ISO -- Why is ISO smaller? Nero belongs in the rubbish bin. A bin/cue is highly unlikely to be satisfactory for any copy protected cd. Alcohol 120% is best for those, it will also burn bin/cue without drama. |

| Re: Converting BIN/CUE to ISO -- Why is ISO smaller? i would use AnyDVD to remove the copy protection, then rip to mp3/wav (a format that doesnt support copy protection) and then burn back onto sisk, then you will have a "clean" copy.

Both Nero Burning Rom and Alcohol 120 are excellent tools to write the .BIN files, although Nero can be an annoyance when you don't not the bytes per sector (Nero does not use the .CUE file to read this kind of information , Alcohol on the other hand does). In addition Alcohol is also compatible with a lot more semi-ISO standards , such as CloneCd's , Nero's and various others. Nero on the other hand can create cd's and dvd's from files as well. Alcohol just burns images or makes full backups. | |

| Re: Converting BIN/CUE to ISO -- Why is ISO smaller? ok, the original question said that he was worried about losing the 75MB of data, UltraISO and MagicISO both have a "optimise" feature, which is kind of like compression, this wont do any harm i dont think but if you are concerened about the sizy try turning it off. also i dont think .iso/bin+cue file vary that much in size MOST cd image files are within a frew megabytes (alc120, clonecds and blindwrites are bigger as they have alot more of the copy protection in them).
