Computer freezing - Club CDFreaks

If anyone can help me out there, I have windows xp home and I think my cd burner is causing my computer to freeze up! Once in a blue when I run a cd my computer freezes, I don't know if it's my memory or what!! Also when I run nero express 5 speed test , it tells me that my speed is 12x!! That impossible!!!!! Help Help

asus p4pe with raid
two 120harddrive
samsung 512MB pc2700 DDR333
CDRW LITEON LTR-52327S WITH FIRMWARE QS06
P4 INTEL 2.8GHZ
ATX CASE WITH 420W
ATIE AIW 9600 PRO

ANY INFORMATION WILL HELP ME! I DON'T WANT TO SEND THE CD BURNER BACK TO NEWEGG WHEN IT COULD A SIMPLE FIXCOMPUTER FREEZING HELP HELP HELP!!!!!!!!!!1

have you run a virus scanner (make sure its up to date)

also download and run ad-aware (www.lavasoft.de) and make sure to download and install the latest reference file too

alot of lockups ive seen of that sort are from virus or spyware

I do have a virsus scanner i have ad aware, spybot search and destroy, pest control and pc bug. I have zone alarm but not pro!! Also when I'm playing music or any other video file , I'll check task manager just to see my cpu usage and its up their!!
