| Check Disk/Disk Error in Stand alone DVD Player Kinda Stuck Here. The problem is that I keep on burning disc that say Check Disc or Disc Error on my stand alone DVD player. I have had success playing burned DVDs on these players before. So let me tell you what I’m using and how. First of all I’m running Windows ME. On a Dell Dimension 8100 with a hp dvd300i DVD+R DVD Writer. I have been using hp DVD+RW 4.7GB 1x/2.4x speed for testing purposes and Verbatim DVD+R 4.7GB 1x-4x Ripping and compressing with Shrink 3.1. When you select to back up the disc it asks for the RCE region protection. I select specify region 1. USA, Canada. Then under Backup DVD Target Device, Target device would be Hard Disc Folder With Target Drive as D:/Temp. I also select create VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS sub-folders. And with Region Free selected. Now as far as burning I’m using Nero 6. Select New Compilation Now this is how I have it set up: From top Left Drop Down box select DVD Where you can select what kind of DVD you are creating I have DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO) selected. Multisesstion Tab: I have no multisession selected. Under ISO Tab: File Name Length: Max of 11=8+3 chars (ISO Level 1) Character Set: IS) 9660 (Standard ISO CD-ROM) Selected: Joliet (secondary volume descriptor and directories…) Relax ISO restrictions: Selected: Allow path of more than 8 directories. Selected: Allow more than 255 characters in path. UDF Tab: UDF partition type: Physical partition File System version: UDF 1.02 Label Tab: ISO 9660: My_Disk (Default) Selected: Also use the ISO 9660 text for Joliet Misc Tab: Selected: Cache files from disk and network. Selected: Cache files smaller than 64 KB Burn Tab: Selected: Write Write Speed: 2x No. of copies: 1 Selected: Book Type DVD-ROM When you select NEW at the top right. It brings you to the screen where you have to select what files to burn. I only select to burn the Video_TS folder there is an Audio_TS folder but there is nothing in it. Now let me back up a say that I was using Shrink 2.3 and creating my own Video_TS and Audio_TS folder and burning them both even though nothing was in the Audio_TS folder. I had read somewhere that you need to do that so the files somehow would not get mixed up. Also when I was using Shrink 2.3 everything was fine. Except that sometimes through the movie it would skip. Then Shrink 3.1 came out and that was one of the things that it was suppose to correct so I downloaded it and I think I had a few successful burns then just out of the blue I started having problems with my DVD player saying check disc or disc error. I haven’t changed any thing as far as software or discs. Now since I have been having problems I have completely reformatted my computer. This did not solve the problem so a changed to a NEC nd2510a DVD+-R, CD-R, Dual Layer Burner. And of course this has not solved the problem either. If you need to know I have the burner running as a slave. I wouldn’t know what else to tell you at this point so any help at all would be greatly appreciated. And please let me know if you do need any other information. |

| Re: Check Disk/Disk Error in Stand alone DVD Player 1, In DVD Shrink you can switch region code off. 2, In NERO 6, why not just select NEW COMPILATION an select DVD VIDEO as type? Or burn the disc from DVD Shrink. 3, Setting book type to DVD-ROM won't make any difference with a ND-2500A/2510A unless you have a patched firmware that supports bitsetting. 4, Have you tried it with DVD-R media to see if your set top box can play these? If it can it's most likely the DVD+R needs to be bitset to DVD-ROM check out the firmware modding thread here for available patched firmwares.
