CD-DVD will not burn

I am using XP with the latest updates.
I also installed a new burner.
My burner would disappear from my computer and was not found in the hardware until I rebooted, that is why I replaced the drive, the new drive also disappeared a couple times.
I also replaced the power supply with a larger one.
My DVD/CD is an HP 1040-r
I cannot burn a cd or dvd.
I can read cd's and dvd's also install software.
I also have tried Nero 6 through 8 and windows XP burning as well as ISO burners.
I have tried to burn data, music, image anc copy a cd/dvd will al the same results.
I get the same results from both the old drive and new one.
I wonder can the controller or cable be causing the issue? (I should have used a new cable first I imagine.)
My nero log is posted below.
Thank you in advance for direction.
Kev.

Re: CD-DVD will not burn

I deleted the eide conenction and dvd in the device manager.
Changed the cable, rebooted, still the same not able to burn issue.
Does this mean my mobo EIDE controller may be bad?

This is a replacement drive for the original one that had the same issues.

I can read from all media types.
I can burn the lightscribe label on a cd without any problem, so I know the dvd writer works for burning.
The cd-r is a Philips, the cd w/lightscribe is an HP, the CD-RW is a Yamaha and the dvd-r is a Teon.
So many varieties, at least one should work.

Thanks again.

Disable Multisession mode and burn slower.

No joy on the burn.
I disabled Multisession, still same results.
Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Re: CD-DVD will not burn

Do you have a Marvell controller on your motherboard? DMA for all your devices is reported as "off".

Might be worth updating your mobo drivers.

Re: CD-DVD will not burn

It works yes
Arachne, I looked into the Marvell controllers. I do have one.
The drivers were updated to ver. 1.2.0.24 with no newer updates.
I decided to roll back the drivers to ver 1.0.2.15 and like magic it works.
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
I guess I can't rely on driveragent.com to give me the latest drivers that work for my system.
Thank you to all who assisted me in this issue.

Re: CD-DVD will not burn

Glad it's working!

I had a similar problem with some graphics drivers, where I had to use an older one to keep the system stable...unfortunately, you're right and the latest isn't always the greatest.
