Can't play DVDs - Club CDFreaks

I just installed a new Liteon SHM-160P6S DVD player/burner. It burns data DVDs, & CDs just fine. It also reads data DVDs & CDs fine.
When I insert a movie DVD to watch nothing happens.
Also in Windos XP device setup it is shown as a CDROM device-type, not a DVD player.

Any ideas where to start?

Did you finalized the burnt disc or if you used Nero did you burn with no multisession?, if no then that might the problem also you can try the same disc to play it with stand alone DVD player see if you have the same problem.

These are regular commercial move DVD's that we have purchased, "Lord of the Rings", for example. The play fine in our other computers & the DVD player downstairs hooked to the TV.

Do you have any software like PowerDVD on that computer to View it?

No try to play this disc that you have a problem play in your stand alone DVD player to find out if the this disc is bad or incase plays fine then you might have other problem.

Posting in more than one forum is not permitted. This is one of the rules you agreed to when you accepted the CDF agreement.
