Cannot burn DVDs.

Hi, I have a new LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20AIL burner and I have burned CDs using it without a problem. But I CANNOT create photo videos on my DVDs using ROXIO's MYDVD, Nero, Photo Elements Premiere etc.

I tried to burn videos on Philips DVD+R at 8x and 4x speed, neXXTECH DVD R, and Maxell DVD+RW unsuccessfully. I could only burn a part of my Photo album only One time and only a part of it worked and the rest just hanged.

Do I need to replace the burner or is there a solution for it? Also, I upgraded with the latest firmware which was suggested by one of your threads and I am yet to try burning on Verbatim brands. But my concern is, if it works only on Verbatim brand, then this burner is no good for me.

I request for your help .

Thanks,

Shekhar

Re: Cannot burn DVDs.

Disable Multisession, try with better media like Verbatim.

Re: Cannot burn DVDs.

And to add to Chef's comments, always burn media at or near their rated speed. If you are using 16x media, don't try to burn it below 8x speed. If you have a 16x burner, and 16x media, the drive is meant to burn at speeds up to 16x. 8x burners burn from 4x to 8x. 4x burners from 1x to 4x.

This is not to say that you should burn at the max speed, but try to stay somewhere in the ballpark.

Re: Cannot burn DVDs.

Thanks for the replies. I will try it out and update you on the status.
So, you folks think the burner's DVD optical sensor (not the burners CD sensor) still works? I am asking this because, somewhere in your forum I read there are two different sensors one for the DVD and the other for CD.

Re: Cannot burn DVDs.

Hi,

I tried burning office-depot's dvds (manufactured by imation as per the sales guy) and to my surprise it worked. Its on sale 25 cds and 75 dvds for just $9.99.

I guess, the burner will work fine on Verbatim too as per your suggestions.

Thank you folks. You saved me from buying a new burner.
